Better than plastic!

July 31st, 2008 · 1 Comment

I really enjoyed the writings of Paul Goetllich on living a plastic free life and thought it might inspire you as it did me. For other articles from Paul, check out this link.

Also check out stainless steel food containers from Live Without Plastic. They have everything from food containers to kids sippy cups:

I also like these stainless steel storage containers from Cost Saving 2 U:

I also can’t wait to get my new wide mouth canteens for my smoothies (I love how they made a slim one to fit in a car cup) from Guyot Designs:

Bueller, I follow your blog but I don’t always leave comments. I guess I’m a bit of a lurker.

I just wanted to say that I LOVE using glass and stainless steel over plastic. I’ve read too many articles about plastic leaching chemicals into the food/beverages. The problem with that, for me, is that the chemicals many times act as an estrogen and that messes my body up in a major way. I’m sure it’s not healthy for all other reasons, too.

Every once in a while I have to go through my cabinets, however, because somehow plastic finds its way into my home. My husband buys some things for our dog and then refuses to discard the plastic containers and lids because they are “good” for storage. Plus, there are Tupperware containers that I swear just materialize out of nowhere into our cabinets.

At one point, IKEA sold glass containers with glass lids that were great for the refrigerator. I LOVED those containers. They all broke, after years of use, and now we are using glass storage containers that have plastic lids (which really bugs me). If you ever find a source for glass food containers with glass lids, I’d love it if you could send me an email about it (WendiDee @ PureJeevan . com).

Thanks for a great blog post. I’m going to see if Goetllich’s book is available through our library.

    Lots of love to you,

    Wendi
    XOXOXO
