Day 1 went pretty well. I was tired but nothing really stood out. I did have a splitting headache in the afternoon but I thought it was because of the fires. In retrospect I realize it wasn’t because of that.
Day 2 I woke up exhausted and by mid day my brain was so foggy I could barely think straight and I also started getting dizzy and nauseous. I had this feeling like I was underwater. So I called my doc who said the heavy metals were coming out too fast which is typical when you have such a high level like I do. Also they come out much more quickly in the beginning. He told me to skip my evening dose. He also suggested I take some charcoal. So I went to the store and got some from Whole Foods.
Day 3 – 5 Feeling much better. Still a little foggy but it’s more like mist rather than fog. I will not take DMSA today or tomorrow and then only 1/2 the dose on Day 5. If that goes okay I will keep on my original schedule but with only 1/2 the dose as before.
I also bet that being a living foods vegan makes the detox faster because your pathways are more open. I have read that high protein and good fats helps with heavy metal detox as it gives something for the metals to be absorbed by making elimination easier. So I’m eating more avocados, two pea protein shakes a day, asparagus, lots of salads with dulse for minerals and some black beans. I also am going to be eating a lot of my Shamrock Soup as it has 3 cloves of garlic and mercury binds to sulphur (which is in garlic). Cilantro is really good too but I’m allergic to it. I will also start weekly IV pushes of magnesium, B vitamins, vitamin C and Glutathione (the antioxidant made by your liver that helps heavy metals to leave the body).
I was a little frustrated at first for having to lessen my dose of DMSA because I just want to do it quickly but you can’t push your body. You have to treat this as seriously as anything else and rest and let your body do what it can handle. It is a slow process and it’s best to make peace with that and visualize the heavy metals slowly going on their merry way.
Hope you are all having a great day!

Having gone trough intense mercury detox including DMPS,which backfired, I have to advice severe caution, when detoxing with heavy chelators, when you still have fillings in your mouth. More mercury will flood an already overloaded system and all the bugs can flare up, it is heavy on all the organs. Check Dr Dietrich Klinghardts site. I have walked this path and still walking it. Getting better all the time.
I really appreciate your site. I live in LA. If you need help e mail me.

Hi In Repair:
I'm sorry to hear your detox has been so rough. I certainly can empathize. I know that DMPS is very very strong and it therefore does leach the fillings. The dose of DMSA is significantly less and I talked to my doctor about just that concern. He thinks that because the dose is so low that I should be fine. He plans to have my fillings taken out in 3 weeks. I can't wait for that. I just want them gone. However, I have asked to speed that up.
Keep me posted. Love the advice from someone who has been through it.
Best

Bueller! Yay I can comment now!
I didn't know garlic could help pull mercury out. That's amazing. Thanks for sharing that little tidbit!
I'm glad it's getting easier for you!
